Paintorio
Paint, and keep the whole performance. Paintorio records every stroke, so a finished painting can play back exactly the way it was made, on any tablet or computer.
In development · not yet in app stores
What it does
- Every stroke recorded. A painting is saved as the performance that made it, not as a flat image.
- Built to look the same everywhere. The painting engine is designed so a painting renders the same way on iPad, Android tablets, Windows and Mac.
- Real instruments. Pencils, charcoal, pastels, pens, erasers and blenders are tuned against scans of the real tools on real paper.
- A museum for finished work. Publish a painting and visitors can watch it being made.
- Paint together nearby. Two people on the same network can work on one painting at the same time.
- In many languages. The app is translated into 49 languages.
Platforms
iPad and Android tablets, Windows and Mac computers. Paintorio is still in development; it will be offered through the App Store, Google Play and the web when it is ready.
The open format
Paintorio paints in OpenPaint, an open, documented format for brushes and paintings. A painting made in Paintorio is described in a format anyone can read and render.
